Chris Houston's 7 Steps to Success

If you have ever been stuck, and found yourself unsure or uncertain of how to move forward, you are not alone. Sometimes it can feel like we're going through the motions each day, but the truth is, you definitely have the power to get things back on track and continue to create the life you want. It's definitely not easy, but I’ve learned through experience that finding gratitude in your current situation will help you prepare for growth.


Just like you, I’ve always had goals, and I’ve achieved many of them. Some goals I’ve had to put on hold or eliminate altogether. Remember, as long as you're working towards a goal, you are a success. I developed a simple 7-step framework for success that I want to share with you from my Time Freedom Action Plan daily accountability coaching system.


STEP 1: Identify Your Commitments


What really matters? What do you currently want to be, do, and have? What things are you committed to doing every single day to achieve your goals even if you don’t feel like it? These are some questions that must be answered in order to truly identify your commitments.


Commitment is the fuel. It’s the drive you possess to do what’s necessary. It’s the willingness to make the sacrifice, and the day to day proof of how serious you are about it. Your daily actions determine the results you get. When your commitments change, your actions will change. Make sure that you always take the time to identify your commitments and write them down.


STEP 2: Set Your Goals


When you set goals, you have to make sure they match up with the things you are committed to. Commitments are the things that you have decided to take action on. Goals are just a list of things that you want. So if you say you are committed to something, but your actions don't match with your goals, then the cycle of frustration kicks in. You will know if you are on the right track when your goals match your commitments and you begin to take action on them daily. Do the goals you set match the person you really intend to become?


STEP 3: Identify What You Need to Learn


What do you need to learn to achieve your goals? Who do you need to connect with? This is all about being willing to study and fill in your knowledge gaps so that you can achieve the things you want. You don’t have to do everything by yourself but you should know enough about the process of whatever you are trying to do so that you understand what's required to achieve the results you want.


STEP 4: Take Action


Now that you know what’s important, it’s time to follow your action plan. Do the things you have to do even if you don't feel like it. Make the calls, set the meetings, and do all the necessary footwork to achieve success. If you want to achieve it, you have to do it. When it comes to taking action, you have no competition. STEP 5: Accountability


The most successful people in the world know how important it is to having a mentor, coach, accountability partner, or group to help them stay on the right track. STEP 6: Lifestyle Activities


Lifestyle activities can be any activity that relates to the life that you want to create for yourself. Be sure to do these things as often as possible. Your lifestyle activities give you the opportunity to act, think, and do things as if you have already achieved the things that you are striving for. For example, if your goal is to open a gallery, go out to gallery events and take note of the things you would do differently or keep the same as if you were the owner. Record your experiences. Before you know it, you'll be that much closer to achieving your goals when you force yourself to get fully involved in whatever you want to do. Do things that make your goals and visions real. Do what makes you happy. Go out there and make each moment count. You become what you think about, speak about, and act on.


STEP 7: Renew, Review, Plan, and Do 


Be sure to take the time to renew your body and mind by getting your rest and practicing gratitude. Review your entire action plan, measure your progress, identify challenges, and make adjustments if needed. Plan your upcoming week and identify your commitments. Continue to do the things that you need to do to get closer to achieving your goals.
